Masking Technique For A Bold Graphic Design

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

Hey! Look at me making cards for no reason!  It's so hard, in the summer, for me to want to sit inside and make anything unless I have a deadline.  It's not that I don't love it.  I just love the warmth and sunshine more, especially now that I live in the Northeastern US and most of the year is chilly or cold! {I grew up in Florida}

Today my card is just as sunshiny as the weather!  I used WP9 lemons from Summer Citrus to create an all over pattern.  Then I cut several masks using the lemon die from the coordinating die set.  I think I cut about 5 masks.  That way I could mask off several lemons at a time, stamp the black image and then reposition the masks in another area.  I think this gives such a cool, graphic look!

I don't mind that there is a gap between the lemon image and the black image.  I think it adds to the 'the look'.   That black image is a stamp from the Altenew set called Simple Flowers.  After all of my stamping and masking, I cut the panel using the WP9 4 Bar Stitched Rectangle Die.

 My sentiment is a mixture of heat embossed and die cut from the WP9 Hand Lettered Hello set and coordinating die.  I used a banner from PTI called the Double Ended Banner Die.  That banner helps hide adhesive that you might otherwise see through the vellum.

The vellum overlay and black panel were both die cut with the largest of the Stitched Rectangle Die set from Simon Says Stamp.

You're Pear-fect

Tuesday, August 22, 2017

Good Morning! At the beginning of the month I shared these pear cards on the WPlus9 Blog.  I pulled out the Punny Produce sets again to mix with some new release products.  They're such adorable little sets.  Inexpensive too ;)

It's so easy to create all-over patterns with these or simple focal points for any kind of card: friendship, birthday or just because.  I dipped my stamp in two colors of ink before stamping to give it a more realistic look.

I made a similar set of peach cards and shared them here on my blog around the same time.  I'll link them up here in case you missed them.  Punny Produce Peaches

A Card, The File, and Vegan Cookies

Friday, August 4, 2017

Happy Friday! This summer is flying by too fast!  Today I wanted to share with you a card I made for the WPlus9 Blog a few weeks ago.  I used the new Southern Summer Florals 1 stamped in blue!

I used layers and layers of white cardstock.  I love the shadow from the 'love' die cut word.  If you'd like to read a little more about how I created this card visit the original post here.

Below you will see some of the projects that have been added to the Friday Inspiration File for this week.  Week #324! Check them out.  I don't always post them here on my blog, but I do have a weekly post on Instagram sharing what has been added to my Pinterest file if you want to follow along there.

Clockwise from top left: Torico, Erum, Flora, Anni, Michele, Larissa

Wish me luck! I have entered cookies into a competition at my husband's work.  I used a recipe from Beaming Baker.  Her Vegan Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies.  I altered the recipe only slightly.  I omitted the shaved coconut and added a few more chocolate chips.  They're delicious!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
