JustRite

Friday, August 29, 2008

I don't know why I hadn't heard of the JustRite Stamps before. I stumbled upon them while surfing the web. I ordered it and received it on Wednesday, and it is partially responsible for my absence from my blog. (My husband also came home from a long business trip:) Along with the Large Round Monogram Stamper I ordered the Small Letter Set. I have been having so much fun playing with this kit. There are so many possibilities. JustRite also has a blog with projects, tips, monogram etiquette, and more.

This card is available in my Etsy shop.

I love it so much that I went back and ordered a few more accessories! Many more just Rite projects to come.

End Of Summer

Sunday, August 24, 2008

What beautiful weather we are having. We have had the windows open for the past week, no need for a/c. My only concern is that we are rapidly approaching fall and then winter! I hate winter. Well, I don't hate it. There are a lot of wonderful things about winter, I just wish it weren't so COLD! Even though I am originally from the north, I have lived more than half of my life in Fl. Anything below 75 degrees is cold to me. Anyway, I need to just learn to enjoy this weather and not think about what the future will undoubtedly bring. So to enjoy this weather, Ryan and I went on a nice long bike ride. Parts of it were very hard, as road biking is a new sport/hobby for me. "Downhill makes it all worth it", I told Ryan. The cooling wind and the speed make for a wonderful feeling.
Hope you are enjoying what is left of the summer!

Wordle

Friday, August 22, 2008

This is such a cool website. Wordle uses text to formulate word art. The higher the occurrence of each word in the text the larger its size. Then you can play with it, change colors, change fonts, etc. I did it with the URL from my blog, but you can also type text and generate one from that. How cool would it be to use your favorite song lyrics or poem? Have fun!

Color Challenge

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Another challenge from KWerenerdesign blog. This is my second time participating in her fun challenges. The colors are white, black, gray, and a pop of color of our choice. Of course I used orange for Halloween! Are you surprised?

Halloween In August?

Thursday, August 21, 2008

They have Christmas in July, right? Why not? I love Halloween. Not the really scary part, but the fun, exciting, candy eating part. I think I love it even more now that I am older. I love waiting for the kids to come to my door. I love how happy they are when you you tell them how much you like their costumes. I love making chocolate party favors to bring to friend's houses. Last year I had so much fun making a papier-mache cat. I got the directions from Martha Stewart. I love vintage and vintage inspired Halloween decorations. One of my favorite artists of this inspired style is Johanna Parker. I especially love the faces on her creations.
Check out these little Mealy Monsters on Etsy. They are awesome!

It's Just A Card

Monday, August 18, 2008

In a way, it is. But in a way it is a lot more. They are my mini canvases. My way of expressing feelings about a special events and everyday moments. I put together colors that I think are beautiful, add words that I think are meaningful, and include images my nephews would think are cool. I play with them until I would be proud to give them to someone that is special to me. Then I put them in my shop and hope that you love them, would feel proud to give them, and don't think of them as just a card. I haven't sold a ton, but I have been excited for each sale I have received. The feedback I have been getting is so sweet and I want to say thank you for appreciating the care put into each one. I hope it makes the person you give it to feel like a special person, because that is who I made it for.

Not much happening around here today. Just playining with Lady, enjoying the weather. Only two more days of summer school left:)

Sunnier Skies

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Today turned out to be a much better day for a bike ride. Still, the clouds looked as if they could make trouble so I took my chance while I had it. The little ipod has turned out to have an unexpected benefit. When I bike ride and there is any sort of wind, my ears hurt. The ear buds block the wind from getting in my ears, no pain!

Leave me a comment if you have any suggestions for some good biking/running music.

Keepin' Up

Sunday, August 10, 2008

I never really saw a need for and ipod (for me). I listen to music at home and in my car, why would I want it constantly in my ear too? However, Ryan and I have started biking and running a lot lately. When he is out of town it is hard to get motivated to do those activities on my own. Enter the ipod, a little something in my ear to keep me company. I also got a free running workout download when I bought it so I'll have to check that out. I was excited to find out that you can buy songs with paypal. That makes it so easy. It's all charged up and loaded with songs. Now all I have to do is wait for it to stop raining!

Raw Chipboard Album

Sunday, August 10, 2008

I don't think I would have ever thought to leave the entire album raw. Keisha Campbell has such a beautiful style. Clean, simple, and feminine. Here is my album, inspired by her beautiful work.

(The album itself is BasicGrey, the rubons are from Heidi Grace, Kaisercraft, and Making Memories, the star chipboard and flowers are Bazzill, the Bling is from Heidi Swapp, Making Memories Noteworthy journaling blocks, ribbon charm, and crystal brads)
