I have been tagged by Winter. She has "challenged" me to go to go to the 6th folder in 'my photos' and find the 6th photo in that folder and post it in an effort to learn a little something about each other that we may not know. Fun, right? Luck would have it that the 6th photo in the 6th folder was not somehow embarrassing:) It is a photo taken outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art. My husband and I love to go to museums. Thanks Winter for including me!

52Q Binder

Thursday, January 29, 2009

I found a recycled binder at an office supply store. I thought it would be a great way to store all of my 52Q cards.

Ryan's grandmother used to save stamps and he gave me her collection to use in my artwork. They are all so colorful and from wonderful places I would love to visit.

This leather flower is from a cute hair clip that I loved, but never had the courage to wear.

52Q When I Look Into My Eyes, I See.......

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

I printed my photo on textured card stock, gently sanded the edges and clear embossed words and images that represented a part of me. I plan to put the journaling on the back , but I am still working on it.

Little Treasures

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Remember this? My original plan was to use it for pictures from the family reunion trip where I found it, but I changed my mind. The pictures from that trip were so full of color that they didn't' look right in this tray. To change them to black and white would have made them work better in here, but the story would have been lost without the vibrant color. I decided to house all my little treasures in here instead. I love the monochromatic pallete much better.
In it is:

*sand from the beach near where I grew up in FL
*a pine cone from our trip to the Grand Canyon AZ
*golden sand and little pine cones from our houseboat trip to Smith Mountain lake in VA
*a feather dropped by the wild turkeys that frequent our neighborhood here in NJ
*rocks collected by my nephews on a hike near their home in the Smoky Mountains TN
*rocks and driftwood from the beach in Pacifica, CA
*a rock Ryan brought home for me in NM, because he thought I would like it:)
*a nest from a little bird family we were lucky enough to watch from egg to emancipation
* a slipper shell given to me by my nephew Zachary
*starfish and other shells from Fenstermaker's in PA. Mr. Fenstermaker is a cute little old man who sells antiques and other good things out of his house.
*a photo of Yosemite Falls CA, taken by Ryan's dad in 1968

I'm glad to finally get this written down. I was afraid that I would forget where each of my little treasures came from.

Color Inspiration #39

Friday, January 23, 2009

These are the best colors in Kristina's challenge so far. Not typically colors I would turn to, but they make such a vibrant, exciting combination that I find I am drawn to it. Which I guess is why I couldn't resist this paper. Unfortunately, I got it so long ago that I don't remember who makes it.

I decided to do a bag in a box for this challenge so that I can us this for gift giving.

Thanks for coming by to check it out. Hope you like it.

52Q Do You Believe In Fairies?

Thursday, January 22, 2009

I have always been enchanted by the story of Lady Cottington and the watercolor images by Brian Froud. Even if you don't like fairies, the illustrations are too good to miss. When I saw the theme for the third question, I thought instantly about this book. I had a lot of fun making this one.

With 52Q

Q1: What do I wish for 2009?

2009 might be the year I become a mother, I wish for that!

A Year of Questions

Monday, January 19, 2009

Q2: Are you afraid of change?

Emily Falconbridge has started a year of questions project and invited all who wish to join. I thought 52Q would be a fun way to journal this year in a small, manageable way. I'm a bit behind, but I can catch up quickly. I have only missed one so far which is Q1: What do you wish for 2009?

I printed from my computer directly onto my photo and then heat embossed it. I was a bit afraid that I would ruin the photo, but it worked out just fine.

Let me know if you decide to play along. It should be fun.

The Kitchen is Done

Monday, January 19, 2009

It went from this.....

to this............

To this!

It still needs some finishing touches and a table and chairs, but basically we are done. It was a lot of work and it took us 2 months, but it was worth it.

To christen the new kitchen, we made pizzas. We used a pizza stone my mom had given us and they came out delicious!

It is finally done:) I'll post pictures later.
