Take Flight

Monday, October 31, 2011

I love this pocketful set and it hasn't lost its place on my desk yet.  Another nephew is having a birthday and I love this paper airplane image for a boy themed card.  I have 5 nephews and have always been fascinated and sometimes puzzled by the items boys choose to carry around in their pockets.  It's always such a random mix of things, a special this, a favorite that.  This is still true for my husband.  At night, when Ryan empties his pockets, he produces some interesting things;)

Have a Great Day!

Make It Monday: Brayer Techniques

Sunday, October 30, 2011

This week's technique is using a brayer to add ink to an embossed design.  I don't have a brayer and couldn't envision myself using one enough to warrant a new purchase.  Instead I used a baby wipe, folded up, to add the ink to  my design.  I first dabbed the baby wipe on the lightest color ink pad several times until I picked up enough color.  Then I swiped the paper back and forth moving up towards the top of the project.  The I switched to the medium value ink pad and repeated the process. Then again with the darkest.  Because the baby wipe is damp, it blends the inks beautifully.  I dried the piece with my heat tool and I was done!

Thanks for stopping by today!
I love and appreciate your visits and sweet comments!

This little card is for my nephew's birthday.
Inside it says, "Hope your birthday is as sweet as you!"

It's SNOWING here today! Nothing that is going to stick, but still!
I'm staying inside cleaning and crafting all day.  When Ryan gets home we are going to make pizzas and watch movies tonight.
Fun!

Friday Inspiration File #39

Friday, October 28, 2011

This week's projects have been pinned.  For some reason a few of them are acting weird.  They appear to not a have a photo, but when you click on the pin the photo is there.  I'll see what I can do to fix it, but in the meantime you can click on the individual pin:)
Have a super weekend!!

ETA: Pins are fixed:)

Holiday Wishes

A nice flat, holiday card!  Love these cool colors on a winter holiday themed card.  I used PTI's new inks. My review:  Long awaited and slightly overrated.  I love having matching colors for my cardstock, ribbon, and buttons, but they do not provide solid "amazing" coverage.  Images are blotchty.  The new pad/case design is small and difficult to close securely.  I had hoped for better performance with such rigorous testing being performed before their release.  Not sure I'd order any more colors.

Have a great day!

Merry Christmas To All....

There has been a thread on the PTI forum about favorite adhesives for adding glitter and shine to a project.  I love using the adhesive sheets.  They can be die cut, cut, and punched into any shape imaginable.  You get great coverage with the glitter.  For this project I die cut the word and adhered it to the card before adding the glitter.  For the star, I adhered a piece of the sticky sheet to a piece of cardstock first, then die cut it, and finally added the glitter.  This way the star can be placed anywhere on the project.

Have a great day!

Papertrey Ink October Blog Hop

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

The 25th of the month is always an exciting day filled with inspiration!  It's PTI's monthly blog hop.  This month Nichole has a photo for us to use as the starting point for our projects.  I was also inspired by another crafter, Jen!  She made these beautiful tags.  I loved them!  When I saw Nichole's photo inspiration I knew I wanted to incorporate Jen's 3D pumpkins!

Enjoy the hop!!
I look forward to checking out all of your projects when I get home from work tonight!

CQC #108

Hi!  These weeks seem to be flying by!  I can't believe it's Tuesday already.  That means a new challenge from Arielle at the ColourQ!!  If you are in need of that last minute Halloween card, this is the inspiration for you!  If you're like me and all of your Halloween cards have been sent out, then here's a chance to use these colors in a new way!  I thought they would make the perfect gender neutral baby card.

I masked off the little duck so I could stamp the gingham bitty block on him!
I think he looks cute!

Have a great day!
I'll be back later with my PTI Blog Hop post!

I'm so tired! We had out of town family visiting tonight.  Two little guys (nephews) and lots of activity.  Baking cookies, Wii, playing with the dog...it was fun, but now I'm pooped!  Goodnight.  I'll add a supply list later, but everything is either PTI or Wplus9:)
See you later!

ColourQ #107 has more great Halloween colors, but last week I was so surprised by how many of you used the colors so beautifully on cards and projects not related to Halloween!  I love that part of being involved in these challenges.  Everyone draws inspiration in different ways so I look forward to your cards and projects each week!

Thanks for stopping by!

My Favorite Place

Monday, October 17, 2011

Just a little peek inside my craft room!  I took them with my iPhone so they are a little grainy.  I love my new space.  It still needs some more things on the walls and I want to refinish the tabletop on my work surface, but I love it.  I love just being in there even if I am just writing out bills or checking email on my phone!  To the left of my desk is a huge double window that looks out at the front of the house.  I can watch *my* birds fly into the tree and the neighborhood kids playing.

Thanks for coming by today!
