Stamping Masculine Prints

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Good Morning.
Happy New Year's Eve!
Do you have any plans?
My husband and I always stay in on New Year's Eve.  We  prefer to stay home, safe and warm, instead having to be out on the roads.  Not only that, but by now we are holiday partied out and just want to celebrate in a low key way.  We watch movies and/or play games.
Ryan usually cooks a special meal.  I love it!

I had so much fun stamping these fun masculine prints the other day.
Yesterday, I put them to use.
I know Father's Day is a long way off, but when the inspiration strikes you just have to go with it.
I purposely placed the glasses at the top, above the mustache, with the bow-tie underneath to mimic a man.

I used my left over pieces to create a second card for this week's Make It Monday.
This week's topic is angled backgrounds.
I placed the leftover strips with random angles back and forth and then trimmed whatever hung over the edge.

Have fun tonight and stay safe!!
See you next year ;)

{2013} Year In Review

Sunday, December 29, 2013

Ombre' Stamping.

Every year I, and many others, share a look back
at the projects and posts from the previous year; a year in review

 2013 Year In Review
Some I chose because they are my favorites, some were chosen because of a fun, unique technique that I'd like to experiment with in the new year.
In 2013, I started my first art journal.  This really pushed me in new directions.  I wanted to take those fun, messy techniques and interpret them into clean and simple designs for my cards.
It's cool to see how my photography/photo editing skills have improved over the year.
Much more growing and experimenting and improving to do.
I'm looking forward to a new year!

A fun masking and pattern stamping technique.

Overlapping stamps to create a collage effect.

Adding doodles and watercolor to stamped images.

Lots of movement and dimension.

Creating texture to stamped images.

Shimmering watercolor stamping.

Faux snakeskin stamping.

Fun way to add color to your dimensional pastes.

One little stamp designs.

Stamping texture onto die cuts.

Swirling paper into paint to create movement.

Create a scene with several stamp sets.

Adding subtle texture with stencils and modeling paste.

If you've posted a Year In Review, let me know in the comments.
I'd love to come by and see yours.
See you tomorrow for the December 12 Kits post!
There will be a Giveaway and the January Guest Designer
will be announced on the 12 Kits Of Occasions Blog!
{If you hurry, you still have a chance to enter to become a GD next month.}

FIF {2013 Favorites}

Friday, December 27, 2013

Just like last year, I have decided to dedicate this week's Friday Inspiration File
to some of my favorites from this year.  These projects also represent many of the year's  trends: bokeh, chalkboard, sequins, geometric designs, mixed media, gold accents, feathers,  just to name a few.
I look forward to what the new year will bring.
I am continually excited and inspired by all of you.
Thank you so much for sharing and for another great year!

Pop! Fizz! Clink!

I think I need a color intervention!
Every time I want to try something I pull out the same color scheme.
Orange and Turquoise....I just love it.

I created this for this week's Make It Monday: A La Carte.
I chose Adding Texture to Stamps as my inspiration.
This time, I tapped the circle stamps onto the ink pads then stamped onto a Tim Holtz stencil to create texture before stamping onto my project.

To create my gold embossed letters, I first embossed a large area in gold.  After heating, I added another layer of ink and powder and heat embossed again.  Then I die cut my letters.  It was tricky getting the letters out of the dies, but not as much work as embossing the letters after they were cut.  I used the leftover piece for a little gold border.

Wishing you all a very
Happy & Healthy New Year!
