12 Kits Of Occasions {June 2014}

Monday, June 30, 2014

Good Morning!
Can you believe tomorrow is the beginning of July?
So far the summer has been beautiful here in NJ.  Warm and sunny, but not to hot.
The lawn could use a little rain.  I put in a request for an evening thunderstorm ;)

Since today is the last day of the month I can finally share cards I have created with this month's kit.
Marybeth put together a really beautiful, elegant wedding themed kit, with a few whimsical elements included too!
These kits that we create and send to each other are so much fun.
I encourage you to get together with some friends and give it a try!
Renee wrote a post awhile ago that might help you get started.

This month we have a guest designer that has been with us before,

I loved getting the opportunity to work with these champagne glasses.
I  added a bit of clear Wink of Stella and some pearls to enhance them.

Love this multi-heart die cut! I layered it over a stamped and gold embossed piece that Marybeth sent.  To make the 'happy' die cut work with the design I added some gold embossing powder {twice}.

For these last two cards I discovered I was able to transform the pearlized papers from a subtle tone-on-tone white to vibrant color.  I used PURECOLOR Dye Inks to add color.  It worked perfectly. The pearlized areas resist the color while the paper absorbs it!
Beautiful!

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have fun hopping around for more inspiration!

Stamp Set Roulette {Thank You}

Saturday, June 28, 2014

Every now and again I like to challenge myself with something I call

I choose 2 stamps sets. at random, and I have to make them work together.
Sometimes I get lucky and they are easy to use together, other times not.
It's fun!  It helps me to pull out and use older sets in my collection too.

This time I got Trendy Tree Tops and Love Lives Here.
I got lucky.......this time ;)

At the end of the school year I used up many of my 'Thank You' cards
and I need to add a few more back into my stash.

I used the kissing technique to add a woodgrain pattern
to the tree trunk using a woodgrain stamp.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

What's On Your Desk?

Thursday, June 26, 2014

What's on your desk right now?
Moxie Fab wants to know.

Here's a quick snap of what I'm working on at the moment.  I still keep all of my stamp sets in CD cases.  I have a few 4-drawer cubes that these fit into perfectly.  I recently purchased several WPlus9 sets and I'm finally getting around to putting them into cases and labeling them.

Thanks For The Lift

Hello!
I have a simple little card for this month's PTI Blog Hop.

I chose to use the square shape, the shades of pink, and the feeling of upward movement from the balloon as my inspiration.

It was fun to pull out these older sets and play around with them!
Thanks for stopping by.

Perfect Together

Sunday, June 22, 2014

School has finally come to an end!
I am looking forward to warm weather and lots of extra crafting time.
I have been working on my 12 Kits projects over the last few days so I can't share those with you just yet.  I'll have to wait until the 30th.
In the mean time I do have a little peek into the kit and something cool I discovered while playing around with the contents.  Marybeth put together a beautiful kit that included paper from The Paper Studio {linked above}.  The papers are white on white with the design in a pearlized finish.  While they were beautiful as is, I felt they needed a little color!  I decided to try using my PURECOLOR Dye Inks {linked above}.  The results are beautiful.  The paper takes the color beautifully while the pearlized design resists the color!

I can't wait to share the projects with you!
I hope you are having a great weekend.

Projects were added to The File a little late this week, but they are there.

It's getting warmer and warmer around here.
Perfect for ice cream dates in the hot rod.

I created this piece awhile ago and shared a little 'how-to' on the WPlus9 Design Blog.
I finally got around to using it.

Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Congratulations {2014}

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

The school year is coming to an end.
Next week the students I work with will be
graduating 8th grade and moving on to high school!
I created this card for the student I interpret for.

The background is created using glossy accents and a stencil.
After the glossy accents was dry I used finger daubers to sponge on 6 different WP9 Dye Ink colors.
Because these inks are waterproof, I needed something a bit more than a baby wipe to clean the color from the glossy accents like I was able to with the distress inks on this project.  I used a little bit of Staz-On cleaner on my baby wipe and it came right off.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have you tried stenciling with glossy accents yet?
