Print Making With Background Stamps

Saturday, October 31, 2015

Good Morning!  It's a chilly one here and I'm cozy on the couch with a fire and a cup of coffee.  What could be better?  The other night I had fun 'print making' in my craft room.  I used this beautiful large stamp from WPlus9  Snowflake Backdrops set.

I started by spraying some Pure Color Spray Mists onto my craft sheet.  I chose Lake House, Silver Lining, and Shimmer.  I sprayed them close to each other on the mat.  I smooshed my stamp into the puddles of mist and then stamped onto my paper.  I tried stamping on different kinds of cardstock and watercolor paper.  I stamped several generations {without adding more mist to my stamp} to see what variations I would get.  Some impressions gave a more mottled look, some gave a very crisp, defined image.  I loved them all.

For this project I chose one that was stamped onto watercolor paper.  The impression was a good mix of mottled yet still had clearly defined snowflakes.  The look was so soft that I wanted to keep any added embellishments soft as well.  I stamped and embossed on linen vellum.  It's a little more opaque than regular vellum and more white.  I added color to the embossed images with copic markers on the back and then mounted them onto a white die cut.  I added a sentiment, also embossed in white on linen vellum.

I love how soft he looks, especially in person.  I still have quite a few 'block prints' left to work with...

Have a Happy Halloween!

Guest Designing For The 12 Kits Of Occasions

Friday, October 30, 2015

For several years I was part of a really fun group called the 12 Kits Of Occasions.  Each month a member put together identical kits and sent one to each of the other members.  Armed with all of the same supplies, we set out to create projects and share them at the end of the month.  It was always so much fun to see how each of us used the supplies in such different and sometimes exact same ways!  This month I was invited back, as a guest designer, by Joyce

Of course, I said Yes!

This month's kit was travel themed.  I loved all of the luggage die cuts, cityscape images, and fun sentiments.  A great color scheme too!

I love this luggage!

These city images were so much fun to color!

Thanks, Joyce and the other ladies at the 12 Kits for having me back this month!

CASEing Kelly Blog Hop +Giveaways

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Today's very special blog hop is in honor of Kelly Latevola.  Kelly has highlighted many artists on her blog column called CASEing Genius.  She shares projects, an interview, and also creates a project of her own that is inspired by that week's genius.  Kelly included me in that list of 'geniuses' and you can see my interview {HERE}  Today we {all of her past 'geniuses'} are saying 'Thank You' for loving and sharing our work with others.  She has made us feel special and we want to do the same for her!

We have each chosen three of Kelly's projects as inspiration and, as she does, created an original project inspired by them.  You can see the three I have chosen above.  I love Kelly's use of vibrant color, unique lines, and bold black accents.

I have chosen to stamp and emboss the new Amaryllis stamp set from WPlus9.  I did a lot of masking to create my bouquet.  Then, I added color with distress inks.  I mimicked the diagonals of Kelly's butterfly card and the slanted sentiment.  I added a bold black word like her 'beautiful' card.

Enjoy The Hop!
